Primary Needs of Life

Which countries do not have clean drinking water?

12.07.2022

We believe it is important to make a positive contribution to improving living conditions in our world. That is why Henkelman supports good causes, both locally and internationally. One of the charities that we sponsor is the Weebale Foundation.

More than 40 percent of the world's population has no access to safe and clean tap water. The biggest water problem is in Africa, mainly the countries Ghana, Ethiopia, Nigeria and Uganda. That means we are talking about 664 million people in the world and one in four people in Africa. Clean and safe drinking water is one of our primary needs and is a major problem in Africa due to extreme drought and climate change.

Water taps in Oeganda

Thanks to the efforts and involvement of the population and the knowledge and experience of Wheebale Foundation as well as financial contributions from donors, various water projects have already become a visible success. For example, the water systems and water taps in the village of Banda Kyandazza and in the village of Kakeete Kikwayi, Uganda, were made possible by donations from Henkelman. Weebale worked with local residents to choose the best places for the tapping points. For example, in Banda Kyandazza, five taps have been placed along the main road where more than 2,200 people can tap clean water daily.

More about charity Weebale Foundation

Weebale Foundation is committed to permanently improving the living conditions of local communities in Uganda. They do this with their knowledge, experience and financial support. Each project is set up and executed in consultation with and together with local people. They also have a clear vision; the foundation itself never determines what help is given. The choice is based on the request of the local inhabitants. They also say; It always works better to teach people something than to give them. "It is better to learn to fish than to get a fish." The commitment and involvement from the population as well as financial feasibility and a financial contribution are always essential for a project to succeed. Weebale Foundation guides and thinks along with this.
